We love this trend — love it! Instead of learning the sex of your baby at the doctor’s office… enjoy the moment at home, or at a party, with an amazing gender reveal cake. It’s a great concept, a fun idea, and something really exciting for us at the bakery.

Gender Reveal Cake

Our fun, Gainesville couple wanted to learn their baby’s gender together, at a more “friendly” setting. She called us ahead of her visit and arranged for us to talk with her doctor. Once we got the call, we were under way!

Since they were having a girl, we used layers of pink buttercream in-between alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla cake.

A crumb coat covered all of the layers. For fun, we added just a touch of pink on the very top.

Fondant covering keeps the secret

Covering the cake with our tasty fondant made sure that the pink filling layers remained hidden.  The only way to know the sex of the baby would be to cut a slice and enjoy the gender reveal cake. =)
