Girls Place, Inc. (in Gainesville, Florida) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls of all racial, religious and economic backgrounds to GROW confident, strong, and independent in order to thrive in the world around them. This year, Girls Place hosted their first-ever New Year’s Eve fundraiser– Taste & Toast.
To kick the inaugural event off in style, Girls Place chose a theme of “Salute to Hollywood.” Dream Day Cakes donated a specialty cake for the event– and it was BIG.
The cake consisted of 4 tiers, each with a different flavor. The bottom tier featured a quilted effect within pink fondant. Adorned by black fondant and piped accents, the inside contained moist chocolate cake with our soft chocolate buttercream filling. The large round tier was fashioned after a stylish cocktail dress, something Audrey Hepburn might be seen in “Two for the Road.” The tier, with more than 300 fondant discs, featured layers of vanilla cake and a wild strawberry brunch buttercream. Our next tier, the small hexagonal tier, contained layers of vanilla cake and our passion fruit buttercream filling. Covered in our handmade fondant, the tier was adorned with piped accents.
Our top tier continued the stylish dress theme with more (over 100) fondant discs and a slanted cake top; holding a clock counting down to the New Year. The clock face showcased Girls Place with their logo and the tier featured marble cake with soft chocolate buttercream.
We loved making this cake– and even more, we love this organization. For more than 20 years, they’ve been working to help girls in the Gainesville, Florida area. We had great time making this cake, and an even better time ringing in the New Year with the great people of Girls Place.
