Sometimes, we’re given a lot of creative license when we are asked to make a cake (Hint Hint: Those are usually the best ones). This Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Cake was such a cake– and it turned out to be one of my favorites.
The concept was simple: Twins Thomas & Katherine were turning one and would be celebrating their first birthday with a perfectly themed Thing 1 & 2 birthday party. From cake pops to cupcakes, family cake to smash cakes, this was going to be one red, white, and blue party!
The family cake featured Thing 1 & Thing 2, along with many important symbols from the famous Dr. Seuss book.
Yeni hand drew and painted these figurines with edible inks. The fondant figures were layered onto the cake to really make a great animation effect. The kite string blew me away (and she won’t tell me how she did it).
The cake was styled for a full 360 degree viewing.
A first birthday needs smash cakes!
Cupcakes and Cake Pops completed the theme:
We were very honored to be featured on Half Baked: The Cake Blog. It’s one of our absolute favorite cake sites, and you should really check it out.
Thank you for letting us share this cake with you. Working with this family was an absolute joy and we truly loved creating this Dr. Seuss Thing 1 and Thing 2 Birthday Cake, Cake Pops, and cupcake themed celebration.

I absolutely love this cake and my sons first birthday is coming up. I would only need one smash cake and the cake pops aren’t needed either. How much would it cost to have the cake, smash cake and cupcakes made? Thank you so much for your time.
