Yeni and Lindsay
Congratulations to our Baker/Owner/Cake Artist Yeni Monroy! This morning, Yeni became an American Citizen (and immediately registered to vote). =)
This has been a very lengthy, time consuming, and costly process for us. We’re bakers– so we’re not going to get political. We’re just simply very happy that the process has completed and Yeni is both happy and honored to be an American.
After the ceremony, everyone celebrated at the bakery. Fred had an idea to make an American Flag cookie… after all, what’s more American than cookies???
We dyed our Bearkery® Signature Cookies red for the red stripes, dyed a chocolate chip cookie batch blue for the stars, and made a white chocolate chip batch for the white stripes. Continue reading

Circus Roses Wedding Cake
Every time a bride and groom selects Dream Day Cakes to bake their wedding cake, we are truly honored. We know that between the venue, the caterer, the photographer, etc. it can get… well it can become a little overwhelming.
Our job is to try to find the happy place. =) After all, choosing a wedding cake should be fun. The cake should taste great. The design should be something you love.
As we said… it’s an honor.
For this amazing couple’s wedding cake, Yeni worked with the bride and groom to create a 4 tiered wedding cake with sugar Circus Roses and edible ribbon.

We love Spa Royale. Let’s say that again… we LOVE Spa Royale.
You may remember this amazing local business from such fun cakes as the employee appreciation cake or the Mom-digra cake. We’ve made a good number of cakes… and we can count on one hand the number of companies awesome enough to create a custom cake for their employees.
Recently, our favorite Gainesville spa opened an incredible new facility. Modern, spacious, and beautiful. The design is perfect and more importantly, is perfect for treating clients.
But, let’s talk cake… after all, this is the Baker’s Blog– not the spa blog. Continue reading

Bee Baby Shower Cake
We loved working with Krafty Kaboodles on this fun, beehive bumble bee baby shower cake. From the two tiered custom fondant cake to the adorable bumble bee cake pops, this was just one fun cake.
The inspiration for the cake came from the Krafty Kaboodles invitation. We loved it. Just loved it. From this invitation, the cake was on it’s way.
Seated atop a black, yellow, and white cake tier sits a honey covered bee hive. The very large top tier then featured bees flying and crawling across the delicious fondant. White, sugar flowers added that extra touch.
This was one of the only times bugs would be acceptable on one of our cakes.

80th Birthday Cake
When you think about it, you truly realize how amazing it is to celebrate an 80th birthday. Recently, our cake bakery in Gainesville, Florida was honored to help celebrate this octogenarian event with a custom 80th birthday scrapbook cake.
For this birthday cake, we created a two-tiered, custom fondant specialty cake. The cake was to feature memories for the birthday boy, orange and blue colors, and showcase the milestone age achievement.
We wanted clean lines, a distinct look, and a modern feel to classic photos. For the photos themselves, we used an edible ink printer with fondant touches to give the photos that classic photo album look and feel.
Every decoration on this cake was completely edible. Continue reading

Bear Baby Shower Cake
Ah, baby shower cakes. We love them — and what could be more fun than our Gainesville, Florida bakery creating a Bear Baby Shower Cake?
Something tells me that Dream Day Cakes is the bakery for all bear cakes.
For this mom-to-be, Yeni created a unique design inspired by a sketch from our client, featuring edible decorations, fun colors, and of course… a fondant bear.
Sometimes, you need more than cake… you also need cake pops. This was one of those times.

Mermaid Birthday Cake
Our bakery enjoys the benefits of location. In the great state of Florida, we enjoy amazing weather, good roads, mermaids, and amazing coasts. Wait, Mermaids? Yes, Virginia. Mermaids do exist– and they’re delicious. =)
To help celebrate a first birthday for a set of ADORABLE twins, resident cake artist Yeni Monroy created a mermaid themed birthday cake. Complete with edible sea stars, shells, coral, and mermaids… this cake was an amazing trip under the sea.
The concept for this cake placed our twin birthday girl mermaids on top of the cake in their underwater world. Topsy turvy cake tiers showcased the ocean’s currents, colors, and life. Continue reading

Topsy Turvy 16th
Black, Red, White — classic colors that work together incredibly. On this sweet 16 birthday cake, our bakery used a combination of black, red, and white to create a celebration worthy of 16 years.
The top of the cake featured an edible 16 (made from our fondant), perched atop a small white cake tier. Continue reading

CrossFit Birthday Cake
What do you do for your son’s 21st birthday when he’s away at college and really embracing the CrossFit culture? Three words: CrossFit Birthday Cake.
CrossFit isn’t just a great way to improve fitness — it’s more than that. With their intense and demanding workouts, CrossFit members are like warriors.
The Workouts of the Day (WOD) identifies what will be done and then becomes scored to track performance.
With this in mind, Dream Day Cakes knew what we must do — create an intense CrossFit Birthday Cake. Continue reading

Tori Birthday Cake
In this life, there are certainties. Every year, you will celebrate a birthday. At Dream Day Cakes, we believe that all birthdays are best celebrated with a custom, unique birthday cake.
This year, Tori turned 13. Her family came to our bakery in Gainesville, Florida and ordered a great custom birthday cake to help celebrate.
Like most 13 year olds, Tori’s tastes were truly unique.
For this cake, Yeni (with Tori’s help) designed a two-tiered birthday cake. The bottom tier featured black zebra stripes while the top tier featured a solid blue, classic touch. Continue reading

The next big trend is individualization. We’re seeing an increase in retro and vintage, as well as a lot of pale colors. The brides of 2013 want unique designs and personalization significant to the couple. It’s a great trend!
