Fred here… this post is a little bit of a hard one to write. I know that most of my posts are hard to read
but this one is a little personal to both Yeni and me¹. So let me start with a cake, and the story behind it. Without further ado, I present to you my Grandmother’s almost 100th birthday cake:
May the 4th be with you. =) There’s no better day to post pictures of a Star Wars themed birthday cake than May 4th. Yeni created this cake in our Gainesville bakery to help celebrate a 30th birthday. Our cake shop gets to make a lot of fun cakes… but with Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Jango Fett, and Storm Troopers, this cake was a stand out.
This wedding cake, for a reception here in Gainesville, Florida, used one of Yeni’s favorite shades of blue– ever. =) The blue roses (sugar rose of course) and ivory wedding cake really worked well together.
Sometimes you need a cupcake (or maybe a dozen cupcakes). Luckily, your local bakery (here in Gainesville, Florida) is here to help. =)
For this Dora birthday cake, our Gainesville cake bakery was asked to incorporate Dora the Explorer, Easter, and a birthday celebration… in cake. =) Birthday cakes are always a joy to bake, and when a young girl shares her birthday with Easter, you need to delicately balance both celebrations.
Some of our favorite groom’s cakes come complete with a backstory. Back in February, a beautiful bride-to-be walked into our Gainesville, Florida bakery and described her idea of the perfect Bud Light groom’s cake– the cake should be a bottle of Bud Light, complete with her beau seated on top while drinking from a 6-pack.
For your next anniversary, follow our customer’s lead. Instead of flowers or chocolates, our customer requested our Gainesville bakery recreate the top tier of his wedding cake for his anniversary cake.
From edible bride and groom (showing an updated and current hairstyle) to lovely lace details– recreated your wedding cake is a perfect way of showing your bride that you’re still madly in love. For your next anniversary cake, give our Gainesville bakery a call. =)
There’s something elegant about a vintage look. From colors to style, everything old is new again. For this vintage cake, our bakery was requested to recreate a china pattern and produce an elegant fondant cake, with a vintage theme.
This Mexican floral print cake helped celebrate a bridal shower here in Gainesville, Florida. With cutout shapes and bright colors, the cake worked perfectly as a both a dessert and centerpiece. =)
Who doesn’t love the combination of black zebra stripe print and hot pink? This fun, zebra striped cake (with pink bow) featured coordinating cupcakes, a loaner Dream Day Cakes cupcake stand, and a lot of pink. Baked fresh in our Gainesville bakery. =)
At Dream Day Cakes®, we are honored to help celebrate life’s events. Many of the events we help celebrate include weddings– and wedding cakes remain a big focal piece of the reception. When brides visit our Gainesville bakery, they often ask if we recommend using real or sugar flowers for the wedding cake. Our answer? It depends. =) Continue reading
Each year, Puttin’ on the Ritz attracts restaurants from all over the Gainesville, Florida area to help benefit the Children’s Home Society of Florida. One of Gainesville’s premier “must go-to” (and black-tie) events, Puttin’ on the Ritz showcases great food, great people, and a great organization. This year, Dream Day Cakes® was honored to be a sponsoring restaurant.
This year, we brought a custom cake to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Puttin’ on the Ritz, 1200 mini-cupcakes, hundreds of cake truffles, hundreds of cake pops, and auctioned off a delicious 25 layer cake. =)
The bride, in white lace stood next to her groom, decked in a beautiful tan tuxedo with orange and blue bowtie. The fact that the bride and groom were gators, and indeed a Gator Wedding Cake Topper caused no concern. You see, in Gainesville, Florida, gators getting married has become commonplace.
Who doesn’t love Cookie Monster? For this amazingly fun birthday party, we created cookie monster cupcakes, a smash cake, and a fun, cookie monster birthday cake– with real cookies. Or as he would say: “Coooooooooookie.”
From phones to birthdays — Angry Birds have taken over. Recently, our bakery created an amazingly fun Angry Bird Birthday Cake for a Gainesville birthday celebration.
